To the Editor.

—In a recent ARCHIVES article entitled "The Ocular Manifestations of Behçet's Disease" (95:1813-1817,1977), by Colvard et al, numerous manifestations were listed in the series of 32 patients.

I would like to add an additional manifestation of Behçet's disease to the list: retinal neovascularization. I have seen three patients with Behçet's disease who had retinal neovascularization in addition to other ocular findings. When retinal neovascularization is present in Behçet's disease, vitreous hemorrhage may occur and can cause permanent visual loss and other secondary disorders, such as retinal fibrosis, and retinal traction detachment.

Therefore, I would add this finding to the list of ocular manifestations because of its serious nature and potential tn cause blindness. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
