This is the third edition of a book that is obviously filling a need. The list of syndromes involving the eye is reasonably complete. Everybody can find one or the other that has been left out, but, in general, it is about as complete as a single author can make it.

Additional advantageous features of this book are the alphabetical list of the synonyms and eponyms of these syndromes and a cross-reference of syndromes based on the main ocular manifestations. There is also a cross-reference of these syndromes based on etiologic factors, age prevalence, ethnic groups, sex, and mode of heredity.

The bibliography following each syndrome description is excellent and of great value. All in all, this is a most useful book written with typical Germanic thoroughness. Anybody interested in this aspect of ophthalmology should have this book in his library. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
