This latest addition to the combined ophthalmic texts and stereoscopic atlases was well worth the authors' effort. Unlike other such volumes, the 429-page book encompasses every major anatomic and etiologic area rather than focusing in on just one or two. The first chapter, covering the subjects of normal anatomy, embryology, and histology, serves as basis for the subsequent sections on congenital and pediatric ocular disease, corneal inflammation, degeneration and dystrophy, lenticular and glaucomatous anomalies, uveal, retinal, and adnexal disease, and ocular trauma.

The chapters begin with an outline of the multiple subjects covered, followed by a presentation of general information pertinent to the disease states considered subsequently. Each entity is discussed with reference to historic or predisposing factors and in terms of clinical presentation, occasionally in considerable detail. The text is copiously illustrated with clinical and histopathologic photographs and, where appropriate, electron micrographs. Accompanying each chapter is a stereoscopic reel . . .
