To the Editor.
—In answer to Dr. Bullock's letter, let me preface my reply by stating that: (1) I require all my patients to have a complete medical examination from their family physician prior to contemplated cataract surgery; and (2) I supplied a complete clinical record of the patient to Dr. Levine so that he could write the article. I shall be happy to supply the answers to Dr. Bullock's questions from the records that Dr. Levine has kindly returned to me:
- The preoperative medical review was normal in all respects.
- The preoperative physical examination did not reveal any evidence of pulmonary or metastatic disease.
- The preoperative laboratory examination (complete blood cell count and urinalysis) did not suggest an occult malignancy.
- The preoperative chest roentgenogram was normal.
- At the time the hypopyon was noted, no cervical or other lymph nodes were palpable.
- An autopsy was not performed.
