This text adds another to the excellent series of published symposia of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology. The subject of retinal surgery is well covered by the profusely illustrated series of chapters dealing with modern day techniques of retinal detachment management. Emphasis on methods of examination and the surgical topography of the retina add much to the educational value of this volume. Each of the authors, an acknowledged expert in the field, has contributed timely practical advice to the general as well as to the retinal ophthalmic surgeon. The concluding chapter, a free round table discussion, is a delight of informality and clinical pearls. This book is to be recommended for keeping the reader abreast of current thinking and surgical application in the complex world of detachment problems.
