The confusing congenital anomalies of the anterior segment have been exhaustively studied by the author and documented with case histories. He concludes that primary dysgenesis of the iris (Rieger's anomaly) and primary dysgenesis of the cornea (Peters' anomaly) are due to abnormalities of the primordial cells which form the anterior segment. Chapters on differential diagnosis and treatment will be of interest to the clinician. An extensive bibliography helps to make this a final reference work for those interested in these rather rare conditions.
