Teeth in abnormal situations are rare. In the region of the orbit, they are described as occuring in the teratomata, dental cysts, and dermoid cysts. Their presence in the eyelid is very unusual, and the lesion may simulate a dermoid.

Dermoids are fairly common at the orbital margin and at the limbus. They may occur rarely as a retrobulbar mass. They are derived from ectodermal inclusions in the deeper tissues along fetal clefts. According to Duke-Elder¹ (citing Borley² and Alcalá Lopez³) "there may be hair follices, sebaceous glands, and less commonly sweat glands, smooth muscle, elastic fibers, deposits of calcium, rarely cartilagenous spicules, and exceptionally a tooth."

Our present case, which was clinically diagnosed as a dermoid, is remarkable in that two fully developed teeth projected from the surface of the lesion.
