In striking a balance between unadorned cool commentary and syrupy flattery, it is not difficult to find substantial data in the curriculum vitae of Henry F. Allen of Boston. While a student at St. Mark's School and Harvard College, Henry displayed a greater interest in the humanities than in the sciences. His college degree was granted magna cum laude in Greek history and literature.
