Ours is an age of the symposium and edited volume, a time in ophthalmology when local academies, teaching institutions, and publishing firms, anxious to augment reputation, undertake the publication of various medical compilations in which the separate works of many contributors about a topic of common interest are brought together. Many of these edited volumes merely repeat in a more organized fashion what has already been published in the ophthalmic periodicals. A few represent a more sterling effort to present new or controversial material. Happily, as is indicated by the subtitle, the book presently under review falls into the latter category, and is worthy of study by all physicians with concern for the clinical diagnosis and management of ocular and adnexal neoplasms. The book is also of interest to the ocular pathologist, who must attempt to distinguish these various lesions microscopically.
