An Orbital Metastasis From the Urinary Bladder

This paper reports a patient with a carcinoma of the urinary bladder and a solitary metastasis to the orbit. A review of the literature failed to disclose any previous description of this entity.

Report of Case

A 75-year-old white male presented with a threemonth history of diplopia associated with slowly progressive proptosis and visual loss in his left eye. The history further disclosed two recent episodes of painless hematuria.

Ocular examination revealed a best corrected vision of 20/40 in the right eye and counting fingers at 1 foot in the left eye. Aside from moderate nuclear sclerosis, further examination of the right eye was unremarkable. The left eye was obviously displaced forward and inferiorly (Fig 1).
