Introduction

Amyloid tumors of the conjunctiva and eyelids are rare; few cases have been reported in the recent literature.

Tumor-forming amyloidosis is characterized by the presence of small solitary or multiple tumors about the eye, bladder, urethra, pharynx, tongue, and especially in the respiratory tract.¹

The purpose of this paper is to report the second case in the literature of ptosis secondary to solitary amyloid infiltration of the levator palpebrae superioris, and to emphasize the fact that when complete excision of the tumor is not possible, that portion of the tumor left in situ tends to shrink spontaneously.
