To the Editor:

In his interesting article (ARCH OPHTHAL 72:64, 1964) Dr. M. L. Kwitko, under the heading "A Simplified Treatment for Entropion," has described a method of surgery consisting of cutting a triangular wedge from the lower tarsus.

In 1922 this operation was described by L. Müller, Vienna, (Klin Mbl Augenheilk 69:288), and it has been mentioned and discussed by Blaskowics and Kreiker in their "Eingriffe am Auge" (ed 1, Stuttgart, W Germany: Ferdinand Enke, 1938, p 58). They are, however, less enthusiastic than Müller: "Leider ist das Resultat dieses geistreichen und einfachen Eingriffes ebenfalls nicht dauerhaft..."

I myself have since 1946 done this operation 20 times on 14 patients: three patients have been operated on bilaterally, one has been operated on the same eyelid two times (1963 and 1964), another patient three times (1946, 1950, and 1951).
