To the Editor:
In his interesting article (ARCH OPHTHAL 72:64, 1964) Dr. M. L. Kwitko, under the heading "A Simplified Treatment for Entropion," has described a method of surgery consisting of cutting a triangular wedge from the lower tarsus.
In 1922 this operation was described by L. Müller, Vienna, (Klin Mbl Augenheilk 69:288), and it has been mentioned and discussed by Blaskowics and Kreiker in their "Eingriffe am Auge" (ed 1, Stuttgart, W Germany: Ferdinand Enke, 1938, p 58). They are, however, less enthusiastic than Müller: "Leider ist das Resultat dieses geistreichen und einfachen Eingriffes ebenfalls nicht dauerhaft..."
I myself have since 1946 done this operation 20 times on 14 patients: three patients have been operated on bilaterally, one has been operated on the same eyelid two times (1963 and 1964), another patient three times (1946, 1950, and 1951). In order to secure the healing I have applied two or
