Glomus Tumor (Glomangioma) of Eyelid

O. A. JENSEN

Arch Ophthalmol. 1965;73(4):511-513.

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 150 words of the full text PDF and any section headings.

The case reported below is worth publishing owing to the uncommon site (the second case in the literature) of this fairly rare vascular tumor.

Report of Case

A 47-year-old healthy man had, over a period of seven years, noticed a slowly growing nodule in the left upper eyelid. It had been slightly tender with no relation to temperature, but had never caused pain.

On examination a large, 3x5 mm, bluish, translucent, soft, compressible, well-defined tumor of the left upper eyelid was seen to be situated about 5 mm below the eyebrow. The patient had no similar tumors elsewhere. Prior to excision the tumor was believed to be a simple hemangioma.

On examination of the eyelid six months later the scar was invisible and there were no signs of local recurrence.

Pathology *

Macroscopic Examination.

—A 3x3x5 mm skin-covered tissue specimen was examined. The tumor proper measured about 3x3x3 mm.
