Ophthalmology is one of the few remaining specialties without a volume devoted to "Questions and Answers." This text is an attempt at such an undertaking. The book, containing over 1,200 questions and answers, is divided into 11 chapters ranging from "Practical Considerations of the Anatomy, Embryology and Physiology of the Eye" to "Ocular Therapeutics." The index is quite complete, but the bibliography following each chapter is composed almost entirely of the standard texts with little or no reference to current literature (and even here the most recent editions are seldom quoted). Of the 25 references following the chapter on "Surgery of the Eye and Adnexa With Attendant Complications," only one article quoted was published after 1957. For this reason many of the newer concepts in diagnosis and treatment are never considered.
