This volume contains the transactions of the second symposium of strabismus to be held by the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology; it is the third volume to be published on this subject by The C. V. Mosby Company. With the exception of Harold W. Brown of New York, the panel participating in this symposium is different from the group which prepared the previous 2 volumes. The book also differs in its organization and scope and therefore is not merely a revision of the earlier books. The coverage of the subject is not as broad as in the 1958 volume, but more attention is devoted to special problems and recent advances. The 1958 symposium contained relatively large sections on anatomy and physiology. The nature of normal binocular vision and its alterations in strabismus received considerable discussion.
