In this book, the work of several authors, there is considerable variation in quality. The sections describing the practical management of contact lens patients are straightforward and useful, while those parts dealing with the influence of contact lenses on the workings of the eye are often vague and inadequate.

The chapter, "Contact Lenses in Aphakia," contains much valuable information and places proper emphasis on the advantages of these lenses. However, too little attention is directed towards the difficulties many patients have in manipulating them.

In the discussions on the less practical aspects of the subject, several inconsistencies are noted. For example in one chapter, spectacle blur is attributed to apical epithelial edema, while in another, this condition is said to be the result of flattening of the cornea.
