In the twenty years since Ascher first demonstrated the existence of aqueous veins, many investigators have studied these structures and reported their findings. However, neither their results nor those of Ascher have been available before in a single volume. The author, by correlating all that is known about these channels, has rendered a real service to ophthalmology.

In this text, after a brief discussion of the early experiments which foretold the existence of aqueous veins, there is a detailed description of the methods currently employed for their study. Much has been learned of the intricacies of these structures from biomicroscopy and injection techniques, and all of these findings are amply given. Furthermore, the function of these channels is fully described, as well as their contents under varying circumstances.
