To the Editor:

—I am surprised that my article raised such a violent reaction. One of the objections was that the slit-lamp characteristics of the cornea were not mentioned. Since this report was of the microscopic findings, only the essentials relating to the clinical appearance were listed. The possibilities raised by the Drs. Ruedemann as to the causes of the pain are interesting but are outside the scope of the report.

As for the presence of choroidal pigment, I merely reported my findings. Others had reported similar findings previously, as I indicated in the report. The Drs. Ruedemann may choose to ignore these findings if they feel the evidence is insufficient. I certainly find it difficult to accept the statement that "cauterization with 3% iodine solution on a toothpick swab removes the remaining pigment." Since . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
