To the Editor:

—There is in my opinion no reason for discontinuing the use of contact lenses while in Egypt. In spite of the prevalence of trachoma in the Middle East, infection of European or American visitors is extremely rare. The ordinary principles of personal hygiene seem to be sufficient to prevent transmission of the disease. Hand washing prior to the insertion of the contact lenses would seem to be the only precaution necessary. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
