With this issue the ARCHIVES inaugurates a series entitled Our Ophthalmic Heritage, to consist of vignettes about persons and institutions that have made a notable impression on ophthalmology. The section will be edited by Mr. Charles Snyder, but contributions from other sources are welcomed, provided only that the subjects be noteworthy and the documentation be brief, readable, and to the point. The idea of such a historical section is not original with us; we have borrowed it en bloc from the American Journal of Surgery to which we acknowledge our editorial thanks.
This Section should remind us that ours is not the only age of accomplishment, nor are our problems of a more formidable nature than those of our predecessors.
