This book consists of a collection of ophthalmic signs which may be encountered in the course of the usual physical examination of a patient. It is designed to aid the internist in evaluating the importance of ocular changes in systemic disease. To encourage systemic investigation the examination of the visual system is divided into four segments, viz., (a) study of the functions, (b) the adnexa, (c) the anterior segment, (d) the fundus. By listing the signs and giving the diseases in which the internist may encounter them, the author has made this volume easy to read and greatly enhanced its value as a ready reference work. In many instances, the descriptions are meager, but footnotes to pertinent articles are to be found throughout the text.
