Through personal visits to operating clinics, the editor of this volume has gathered together the practices of surgeons from various parts of the world. These men have recorded their ideas in clear succinct terms, and Dr. Boyd has welded them into a volume which is full of valuable hints on some of the more recent highlights of ophthalmic surgery. It is devoted to the clinical aspects of ophthalmology and covers a wide range of subjects, varying from the treatment of iris melanoma to new developments in the operating room. Its multiple authorship and its diverse subject matter speak for lack of continuity which detracts considerably from its readability. However, in spite of minor defects, it can be recommended, for it contains excellent articles on advances in cataract surgery including enzymatic zonulysis, plastic reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and of the conjuctiva, and effects of ionizing radiation and radio therapy on . . .
