Bilateral Retinoblastoma in Identical Twins

In 1929 Benedict1 first reported the occurrence of retinoblastoma in homologous eyes of identical twins, one of whom survived and later gave birth to an infant who in turn developed retinoblastoma.2 Duncan and Maynard3 in 1939 added a report of bilateral involvement in identical twins, neither of whom survived. The last reported case of identical twin involvement was by Falls4 in 1947 of a pair, who at 6 and 11 months developed bilateral retinoblastoma and later succumbed from extension of the neoplasm. The following case reports are unique in that they report the 5-year survival of a set of twins who had bilateral retinoblastoma.
