Report of a Case with a Review of the Literature

In 1929 Benedict¹ first reported the occurrence of retinoblastoma in homologous eyes of identical twins, one of whom survived and later gave birth to an infant who in turn developed retinoblastoma.² Duncan and Maynard³ in 1939 added a report of bilateral involvement in identical twins, neither of whom survived. The last reported case of identical twin involvement was by Falls⁴ in 1947 of a pair, who at 6 and 11 months developed bilateral retinoblastoma and later succumbed from extension of the neoplasm. The following case reports are unique in that they report the 5-year survival of a set of twins who had bilateral retinoblastoma.
