Within recent years we have had several excellent textbooks of an advanced type on visual fields, such as Harrington's text, which covers the whole subject; Brodie Hughes' monograph specializing in field defects in intracranial pathology, and the voluminous text in French under the sponsorship of the French Ophthalmological Society.
The present book is a compilation of the lectures of Mr. Howard Reed, at present head of the Department of Ophthalmology in the University of Manitoba, while he was working at the Royal Eye Hospital in London. It is essentially a book for the beginner. The illustrations are clear and concise and most of the fields given as illustrative examples are confined to one, or at the most two, isopters. It would be a good text for beginning students of ophthalmology at the graduate level, or for the office technician.
