—I have read the article "Urea as an Osmotic Hypotensive Agent in Glaucoma" by Drs. M. A. Galin, F. Aizawa, and J. McLean, in the September issue of A.M.A. ARCHIVES OF OPHTHALMOLOGY with interest. In order to make certain that readers of your journal have the benefit of the reference to the earlier work that was done in this area, I would like to point out that we have employed urea for the reduction of intraocular pressure since the summer of 1956. In 1957, we introduced 10% invert sugar as a solvent for urea. We have recognized the superiority of urea over other agents in acute glaucoma and have brought this to the attention of the profession through the following publications:
