International Council of Ophthalmology.
—The International Council met in Paris on May 9, 1959. The following were present: Duke-Elder (President), Berens (Vice-President), Hartmann (Secretary), Streiff (Treasurer), Arruga, Espildora Luque, Lyle, MacDonald, Melanowski, Müller, Paufique, Uyemura, Weve, Bietti (International Organization Against Trachoma), Franceschetti (International Association for the Prevention of Blindness), François (European Society of Ophthalmology), Payne (Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology), Coppez (President of the last Congress), Sen (President of the next Congress).
The more important business concerned the following:
1. Index Ophthalmologicus.
—In view of the expense it was decided not to publish the new edition for the International Congress in 1962 but to defer this until 1966.
2. The XIX International Congress in Delhi.
—Dr. Keran Sen, proposed by the All-India Ophthalmological Society, was accepted as President-designate. The Congress itself will be held in New Delhi from Dec. 3-7, 1962. The full subscription for delegates will be 150
