The constant relation between the capacity of the outflow channels from the anterior chamber and the volume of the anterior chamber has attracted considerable attention and has aroused some speculation. In order to analyze this relation it seems advisable to consider factors responsible for the volume of the anterior chamber and their influence on this relation.
The volume of the anterior chamber depends on the size of the eye, especially on the size of the anterior segment of the eye; on the position of the diaphragm of the eye, and on the form and the size of the structures which form the diaphragm.
The relation of the capacity of the outflow channels and the volume of the anterior chamber has been found to be reasonably constant in the eyes of different species of various sizes, and this constancy has been suggested as a possible reason for the constancy of composition
