This small monograph deals with protective lenses. The historical development of protective lens material during the last hundred years is briefly reviewed. At the present time there are on the market three main types of protective lenses, each of which is given consideration. These are as follows: (1) laminated glass lenses, (2) thermally toughened glass, and (3) plastics. The last section deals with experimental studies with protective lenses. The bulk of the material as reported in the graphs and illustrations is from Dr. Keeney's own investigative studies done at the University of Louisville, and the remainder was conducted by the U. S.
