The first edition of this book was published in 1951. The same contributors have written a short practical account of what the general practitioner should know of the specialties. The section on ophthalmology has been very ably done by Dr. R. Townley Paton, who covers this field in 33 pages. The illustrations are excellent, and the treatment is brought up to date. A book of this sort should be extremely valuable to a general practitioner if all of the sections are as well done as Dr. Paton's.
