This issue of the A. M. A. Archives of Ophthalmology adapts the gummed stamp idea to medical illustrations in color.* This is primarily an experiment to determine reader reaction to a method that offers certain advantages but which may also involve a nuisance factor which may make it impractical from the reader's point of view. The Editorial Board of the ARCHIVES OF OPHTHALMOLOGY welcomes your comment before considering the adoption of this practice.
The idea is to reproduce as many color illustrations from as many different papers as possible on one page, so as to drastically reduce the cost of color reproduction to each author. The page used in this issue of the ARCHIVES is not a good example of this distribution of cost, since all illustrations are from the same article.
