—The recent article by John Weisel and Kenneth C. Swan (A. M. A. ARCH. OPHTH. 58:126-129 [July] 1957) is very interesting and deals with a difficult problem.

I am in complete agreement with them in that delayed restoration of the anterior chamber is a different entity from late emptying of the chamber.

Much confusion has arisen through statistics referring to flat chambers that do not separate these two types.

As demonstrated by Weisel and Swan, delayed re-formation of the chamber is due to a leaking wound. They seem to have completely eliminated this type of flat chamber by their method of suturing the wound with gut sutures which are covered by a limbus-based flap.

In patients with late emptying of the chamber, on the other hand, they usually found no evidence of a leaking wound. My previous observations (A. M. A. ARCH. OPHTH. 52:250, 1954) are similar . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
