PERSONAL NEWS

Faculty Appointment, University of Georgia School of Medicine.

—Dr. John R. Fair has been appointed Assistant Professor of Surgery and Chief of Ophthalmology at the University of Georgia School of Medicine, Augusta.

Dr. Fair received his bachelor degree from the Loyola University in Chicago in 1937, and was awarded his M.D. degree from Loyola University College of Medicine, Chicago, in 1941. Following his internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Fla., he served a three-year residency in ophthalmology in Army hospitals, after which he was appointed Assistant Director of the Ocular Research Unit, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D. C. In 1954, Dr. Fair served as Chief of the Eye Section of the Army's 98th General Hospital in Germany. It was from this post that he resigned, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
