Report of a Case

The eyelids are subject to a wide variety of tumefactions. These may arise from structures normally in the lids, by metastasis, or by extension from neighboring tissues. Mucocele of the orbit is not uncommon from the ethmoid sinus. The present report concerns a mucocele in the lateral aspect of the lower eyelid. No reports of this condition could be found in the literature.

REPORT OF CASE

A 22-year-old man was admitted for removal of a mass in the left lower eyelid. One year prior to admission he had sustained an injury to the left side of the face, with fracture of the left maxilla, the orbital floor being depressed. A Caldwell-Luc procedure was done. Several weeks later he became aware of a mass in the left lower lid without pain or redness. The mass gradually increased in size, and for this reason he sought advice.
