This monograph, prepared as a thesis for the chair of clinical ophthalmology of the Medical Faculty of the University of Brazil, represents an exhaustive study of ocular toxoplasmosis. Beginning with the discovery of the causative organism, the author presents the world's literature on the subject and reviews 275 cases reported by other investigators. In the 10 well-written chapters can be found outstanding descriptions of the clinical picture of toxoplasmosis, its ocular manifestations, and the histopathology of the disease. The final chapter deals with the author's personal observations and investigations. The bibliography, of 217 references, attests to the thorough documentation of the subject.
