This volume on the oblique muscles is a comprehensive study of this subject, presented in a most intriguing manner. It is divided into two parts, the first 140 pages being devoted to anatomy, which is covered in great detail and fully illustrated with line drawings and photographs of actual dissections. These reproductions of the author's anatomical dissections portray in a minute manner the intricacies of the relationships of these muscles. They give the reader a clear picture of the structures to be encountered in operating upon the oblique muscles, for particular attention is directed to the surgical anatomy.
In the second part the author, in his full discussion on the physiology of the oblique muscles, quotes largely from the writings of others and thus adds but little to our knowledge. The diagnosis of the defects of these muscles is covered in a manner that will not prove very helpful to
