To the Editor:

—It was with great interest that I read the article by Dr. Martin P. Koke on Conjunctivitis in Erythema Exudativum Multiforme in the January issue of the ARCHIVES (25: 78, 1941). I am glad that Dr. Koke classified under this title the cases reported by Dr. Wheeler and by Dr. Bailey and also by Drs. Stevens and Johnson. There is no question that all these do belong in the group which Dr. Koke has so well described.

At Mount Sinai Hospital I have observed 3 cases of this condition in the past two years, and I felt that the immediate administration of sulfanilamide was able to prevent any ocular complications other than mild irritation of the conjunctival vessels. Whether this drug is really of any use in such cases could, of course, be determined only if all patients with the condition were so treated. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
