The object of this work was to analyze all cases of glaucoma in which the condition was diagnosed as such in the clinical records of the Wills Hospital during 1926 to 1935, inclusive.

The term glaucoma is applied to a variety of conditions in which the common physical sign is pathologically increased intra-ocular pressure. Some forms of glaucoma may be considered as disease entities, but etiologically, pathologically and clinically they vary so much that they should not be considered as forms of the same disease. However, the present knowledge of the etiology is so meager that it appears better and certainly more practical to describe the various types of ocular hypertension generically by the name of glaucoma.
