In 1904, I¹ presented before the Section on Ophthalmology of the American Medical Association a case observed at the University Hospital, Philadelphia, in the service of Dr. George E. de Schweinitz.

REVIEW OF CASE REPORT

Miss G. W., aged 19, was seen first on Dec. 8, 1903, complaining of blurring of print and aching in the eyes in reading or other close work. Although she was unaware of a loss of sight, examination showed that vision in the right eye was 6/15, and that in the left eye 6/30.

Ophthalmoscopic Examination.—There was atrophy of the optic nerve, more advanced on the left side. The nerve heads were covered with a delicate, white tissue, which blurred their edges and could be traced in the form of white lines along the central vessels of the retina.
