This book deals with the theory and practice of ophthalmic optics and the clinical management of errors of refraction.
Beginning with the simple laws of refraction, the reader is carried through the mathematical and graphic reasoning and solution of the formulas for a simple refracting system, the commoner forms of ophthalmic lenses ; the correction of the ametropic eye and the imagery of the eye and a lens being described. There are a number of original diagrams.
Although it is not so stated, the book is meant to be more in the nature of an essay than of a textbook. For while the author goes into considerable detail to explain mathematically the basic principles and fundamentals of optics, nevertheless there is no doubt that he takes it for granted that the reader is already familiar with the subject.
