Retinal Artery Obstruction in Young Patients

Recently, an article titled "Transthoracic Echocardiographic Findings in Patients With Acute Retinal Arterial Obstruction: A Retrospective Review" was published.1 This study did not break down the results by age.

Ever since I received my medical training, I have had the impression (and I doubt that this is supported by evidence) that younger patients are more likely to have an identifiable cause of an acute retinal arterial obstruction than older patients.
