I am interested in the article by Wax et al¹ published in the September 1993 issue of the ARCHIVES. Wax et al report, "The use of ONSD [optic nerve sheath decompression] in the treatment of NPG [normal pressure glaucoma] is not new. Anecdotal, provocative reports may be found in the literature," and they cite references 47 and 48. Reference 48 correctly refers to the work of Mikhail Krasnov, MD, Director of the Eye Institute of the USSR.² Reference 47, credited to me, is erroneous. My work is published as "Microsurgery of the Posterior Pole for Low Tension Glaucoma and Other Forms of Arterial Ischemia of the Optic Nerve."₃ This material was presented at the 23rd International Congress of Ophthalmology (Kyoto, Japan) in 1978.
