This latest edition of Helveston's surgical atlas represents a truly scholarly approach to the subject of the surgical management of strabismus. It contains considerably more material than the previous edition and is therefore worthwhile reading even for those clinicians who have read earlier editions. This book is, in fact, far more than a surgical atlas. It is a treatise on the surgical management of strabismus.

Helveston kept the same format of line drawings that worked so well in the first three editions. They are clear, easy to interpret, and convey their intended meanings well.

The format permits the book to be read enjoyably in its entirety (something that I would recommend as being well worth the effort) or to be used as a reference. The book begins with a history of strabismus surgery. The next sections deal with details of instrumentation, suture material, knots, and needles. The information is presented . . .
