Howard Schatz, MD, Selected as Eighth Paul Henkind Memorial Lecturer.

The Executive Committee of the Macula Society has selected Howard Schatz, MD, as the eighth Paul Henkind Memorial Lecturer. The lecture on retinal vascular disease was presented in February at the society's annual meeting. Dr Schatz is the director of the Retina Research Fund of St Mary's Hospital and Medical Center, San Francisco, Calif, and is a clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of California Medical Center—San Francisco. Following his residency in ophthalmology, he was the first fellow at the Retinal Vascular Center of The Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute in Baltimore, Md, under Arnall Patz, MD. Following that fellowship, he took a surgical retina fellowship with L. Harrell Pierce, MD, also at Wilmer. He has received numerous awards and named lectureships, including the Paul Chandler Professorship Lecture Award from Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass, and the Arlo Morrison Lecture Award . . .
