Robert Machemer, MD, MDhc, Receives Ernst Jung Prize. Robert Machemer, MD, MDhc, Professor of Ophthalmology at the Duke University Eye Center in Durham, NC, was one of two Americans who received the Ernst Jung Prize for Medicine from the Jung Foundation for Science and Research in Hamburg, Germany, on June 18, 1993. It was given "to honor and continue his pioneering scientific work in ophthalmology." The Ernst Jung Prize is given every year to two international researchers in human medicine for research with clinical relevance and of direct benefit to the patient.
