—We appreciate Dr Brusini's interest in our recent article¹ on the IOL fixation and continuous circular capsulorhexis. We used a three-piece IOL with a 7-mm optic diameter and 13.5 mm total length, simply because this type of IOL was widely used when the study was performed. One-piece 12-to 12.5-mm IOLs were not available then. However, it should be noted that use of large optic size allowed us to demonstrate the significance of postoperative attachment between the polymethyl methacrylate optic and anterior capsule. As is stated in our article, an IOL with a smaller optic size is favorable in terms of barrier damage not only because of the shorter corneoscleral incision, but also because of less response from the remaining anterior capsule.
