As general pathology is at the very heart of the practice of medicine, so ophthalmic pathology performs the same function for the practice of ophthalmology. The study and understanding of this discipline is indispensable to ophthalmologists in training as well as to ophthalmologists in practice. Thus it was with great anticipation that this new edition of a classic textbook of ophthalmic pathology was received.
Since its first publication in 1975 by two respected authorities and teachers, Ocular Pathology; A Text and Atlas probably has served as a primary reference in this field for more trainees in ophthalmology than any other book. The new third edition supplants the second edition published in 1982; however, in their preface the authors note a recent proliferation of textbooks in this field.
