Cataract Surgery:

Perspectives From Ophthalmic Surgery is an unusual soft-covered text written by George W. Weinstein and George L. Spaeth, the editors of Ophthalmic Surgery. They review the changes in cataract surgery during the past 15 years by providing summaries of 325 articles from the journal that they have edited. Their goal is not so much to present a review of history as it is an attempt to demonstrate that many decisions are made by surgeons on the basis of poorly conceived studies and misinterpretations based on inadequate data. They also bring attention to the many opportunities to acquire valuable knowledge that have been missed because of poorly designed clinical research.
