The authors attempt to address a specific group of ocular conditions in which the use of contact lenses is potentially beneficial. An assumption is made that the reader is familiar with the basic science that a contact lens practice requires. However, even this targeted group will find that, although the scope of topics covered is quite broad, the discussion lacks sufficient detail to be used as a reference text. Instead, it is better classified as a review text that takes advantage of the use of simplified schematics and multiple tables (in outline form) to summarize indications, contraindications, complications, and fitting parameters in a number of specific situations, including the correction of refractive errors, aphakia, and keratoconus.
