Progress in Retinal Research has become established as an excellent source of information in which the interested reader will find comprehensive articles illustrating "the trends and directions followed by research on the retina." Volume 8, which is deservedly dedicated to Prof Tsuneo Tomita in celebration of his 80th birthday, maintains this standard of excellence.
