The Chinese-Language Edition of the Archives

The ARCHIVES now has a readership of over 22000. It is currently the most widely circulated ophthalmic periodical. The English-language edition goes to 3360 readers in 49 foreign countries, with Japan, Canada, and England leading the list. The international flavor of the ARCHIVES is enhanced by the fact that we publish many articles from other countries (50 in 1987). Our readers are thus kept abreast of "progress, problems, and pertinent research in the practice of ophthalmology," wherever in the world they may originate, as enunciated by our founding editor, Herman Knapp, in 1869.

Attempts to inform our readers of ophthalmic practices elsewhere in the world have been aided since January 1985 by a series of articles entitled OPHTHALMOLOGY IN OTHER COUNTRIES. Ten articles have appeared, with more to come. The countries represented have included Canada, Chile, England, Israel, Japan, Kenya, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, West Germany, and Zaire.
